West Coast BBQ Classic 2016

Long Beach, May, 2016

Time for comp #5 and just when we think we are ready to really hit our stride we get a wrench thrown in the works. We cannot compete unless we enter the People’s Choice division as well. We can barely handle 4 meats and now we have to vend product to the public? Luckily I recruited fellow Humphrey’s owner Billy C. to help with the additional cooking duties. I was also able to talk my wife and a few people from work to volunteer with selling the food. Our plan was to separate our site into 2 separate areas so that we could concentrate on our comp turn ins. Unfortunately our plan was a bit flawed and the best we could manage was a 12th in pork. We did sell a whole bunch of “Dragon Pork” though. No more of that nonsense for us… Still haven’t gotten over the top half of the field hump. We are leading the ROY series but a bunch of 18’s is not going to win the title. We did get some TV time as we were interviewed by a local news crew.
