Long Beach, Ca – August, 2016
The LBC event was a small one with only 18 entries. Great opportunity for points but again, this is So Cal and the fields are always tough. NC2Q and Smokin’ Money with Big Red both showed so we had some return friends to hang out with. The cook went well and there were no glitches other than me locking my keys in the truck it was smooth sailing. LBC is a BBQ vending event that added a KCBS event this year. Hopefully they will keep the KCBS portion for next year as well. The sweet Lynyrd Skynyrd cover band definitely made the last 20 minutes before awards entertaining. Walked in all categories plus a 3rd in sauce! 8th Overall. Earning those much needed ROY points. As I was pulling out of the parking lot I noticed Jim from Big Red with the hood up on his truck. Stopped to help but it was terminal. Luckily I had my tow hitch in my truck and I dragged his trailer home so that he get have his truck towed. That good deed paid off in full at Indio when a tip Jim gave me for pork after that gave us out best result ever!
