Santa Anita Park, April 2016
Another Friday morning load up and off to Santa Anita Racetrack for our 3rd comp of the year. We have had another 4 weeks to practice and prepare so we are ready to compete. Unfortunately upon arrival we learned that the entire infield was full except for a small spot directly in front of the live music stage. We opted to set up just outside the tunnel to the infield with a small group of competitors. Met our 2nd group of BBQ neighbors, Philip and Ted of Que’d Up. Makes it a lot more fun when you start making friends instead of being the outsiders. BBQ can be a lonely sport in the beginning. Set up and prep went well and we are really beginning to gel as a team. Still making little mistakes but nothing that is going to hurt us. All of our turn ins were on time once again. Surprise of the day was an 8th place call for chicken! Great way to end the day.
